MINIT MESYUARAT KARNIVAL SAINS DAN MATEMATIK

2.1 Karnival Sains dan Matematik dijangka akan dijalankan pada hujung bulan April (hari Sabtu).

2.2 Semua pelajar sains Tingkatan Enam Atas(57 orang) dan Tingkatan Lima(94 orang) diwajibkan menyertai karnival ini. Semua pelajar dibahagikan kepada 8 kumpulan dengan satu kumpulan mempunyai 19 orang pelajar. Setiap kumpulan akan dipimpin oleh seorang ketua pasukan dan penolong ketua pasukan.

2.3 Jawatankuasa karnival disediakan untuk menjayakan karnival tersebut.(Rujuk Lampiran 2)

Lampiran 3   Permainan berkaitan dengan Biologi

 

A. Build the dna models

Instructions

Things you’ll need:

  • ½ package of licorice sticks
  • 1 package of small colored gum drops
  • 1 handful of toothpicks

1.       Choose a handful of toothpicks and 4 different colors of gum drops. Your finished model will look like a twisting ladder. The licorice uprights of the ladder will depict the sugar/phosphate of the DNA. The gum drop rungs of the ladder depict the nitrogen-containing bases.

2.       Draw a legend to help you remember which colors of gum drops represent which base. You will need a color for Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine bases. The pairing is: Adenine with Thymine and Guanine with Cytosine. The pairs complement each other.

3.       Use a toothpick to attach a gum drop to a licorice stick.

4.       Push the gum drops close to the licorice stick, leaving enough room on the side to add a second DNA strand (licorice stick). You now have two bases in the middle of one toothpick. The ends of the toothpick are attached to each licorice stick.

5.       Use a complementary pairing to make a second DNA strand. Look at the color of the gum drop you have already used. Look at the name of the base the color represents. Select a colored gum drop that depicts a complement to the gum drop you have.

6.       Attach another licorice stick to the second spot on the top of the double helix “ladder.”

7.       Continue matching complementary base pairs until the DNA ladder is finished.

8.       Slowly twist the ladder counter clockwise to depict a double helix.

 

B. use the “powerpoint” to let the students learn

-use the skull model in lab and let the students label it

-for plants, the participants are asked to collect the different parts of plants and label and state its functions.

 

 

 

 

 

Lampiran 3   Permainan berkaitan dengan Mathematics

    1. Easy
  • A person is chosen to be the first player.
  • Firstly, he/she needs to turn for 2 circles before answering the question.
  • One mark will be given if the answer is correct but one mark will be deducted if the answer is wrong.
    1. Vector

 

The task in the applet below is to help the joker climb the structure and grab the ball. At every step, it will show the required direction of motion. To be of assistance you have to select the correct card on the right. Observe that the vectors there are draggable which makes your task so much easier.

Bagi “Phase Equilibrium” , peserta dikehendaki beraksi mengikut soalan yang disediakan dalam masa 3 minit. Markah akan diberikan jika soalan dijawab dengan betul.

Permainan berkaitan dengan Physics

1.       Egg Drop
Sebuah “egg drop” perlu direka dan dibina dengan material yang disediakan. Selepas “egg drop” diproses, pelajar dikehendaki memeriksa parasut yang direka. Pelajar dikehendaki melepaskan “egg drop” mereka di tempat yang disediakan dan keputusan mereka akan ditentukan. ( Rujuk lampiran 3)

 

2.       Acting

Setiap kumpulan dikehendaki untuk memilih salah satu daripada kertas yang dilipat(kertas tersebut memaparkan perkataan yang perlu dilakonkan oleh mereka). Selepas memilih, mereka dikehendaki bersama-sama dengan ahli kumpulan mereka. Masa yang diperuntukan ialah 5 minit.
